What better way to celebrate your union than with a filled and lively dancefloor. For those of you that prioritise always having a full dancefloor, here are some tips to encourage, and keep guests dancing.

1.     Kick Off with Crowd Pleasers

Set the tone for a night of dancing by kicking off with crowd-pleasing tunes. Choose songs that are universally loved and bound to get people out of their seats. A lively start ensures everyone is in the mood to hit the dance floor.

2.     Bust a Move

Guests at weddings tend to be wherever the happy couple are. The best way to keep people on the dancefloor is to be there yourself having a great time. Lead by example and people are likely to follow!

3.     Fewer Interruptions

Minimise interruptions once the dance floor has been opened. Consider cutting the cake before the dancing begins and minimise time spent away mingling or having photos taken. Of course, if you still want to do these things, please do but maybe consider pushing back the time of the dancefloor opening.

4.     Dance Floor Size

Consider the size of the dance floor. I always recommend a smaller dance floor as they appear fuller, encouraging guests to join the space without the feeling they are on display. It’s always easier to encourage people onto the dance floor when it’s already full.

5.     Strategic Seating Arrangements

How you plan out your seating plan can impact how full the dance floor gets. I know. The dreaded seating plan. But hear me out. There are 2 different strategies you can use to fill a dancefloor.

a.     The first is that you place those who love to dance right next to the dance floor, because you know these people will be there as soon as it opens.

b.     The second, is to seat guests who are less likely to dance (maybe some older guests) closer to the dancefloor and have those who love to dance further away. That way, when the dancefloor fills up, all your guests are in the same area and they’re likely to stay in the half.

6.     Proximity to the Bar

Ensure the bar is conveniently located near the dance floor. Easy access to refreshments keeps the energy high and ensures that guests won't have to go far for a drink before hitting the floor again.

7.     Food Service on the Floor

Keep the momentum going by providing an evening food service on the dance floor. Who doesn’t love a midnight snack? And serving around the dancefloor means after some fuel we can party.

8.     Props for Added Fun

Enhance the dance floor experience with props. Glow sticks, fancy dress costumes, and other accessories can make your guests loosen up and have a lot more fun.

If your budget allows, incorporate wow moments through the night. Consider having live musicians especially those who interact with your crowd and keep the atmosphere upbeat. Alternatively, have some dancefloor extras, such as a confetti canon that will surprise your guests and make for some incredible photos.
